Default UGH THE PROBLEMS KEEP COMING!!!

(2001 Honda Civic Coupe EX) I had my head gasket changed and the head shaved, they also changed the thermostat. So now I'm happy to finally get my car back and I'm driving home when I make a U-turn. When I accelerate out of the turn I can almost feel the power steering dislocate and I swerve dangerously into the next lane. I'm gonna kill myself driving this car. I took it back to the shop and they said because it was raining maybe the wheels are spinning... bullshit. I can feel the steering wheel lose power... It won't pull back into straight position when exiting the turn... So I changed the power steering fluid, drained it completely and put all new fluid in it... Still doing the same thing... On top of this the car has lost a ton of HP, I used to feel a jerk when V-tec kicked in, now it's more of a gentle push... I can floor it and it feels like I'm accelerating to merge or something it's pathetic. WHAT DID THESE PEOPLE DO TO MY CAR!?!?!?!

I mean what part of changing a head gasket has anything to do with steering?

How much was the head shaved? A shaved head causes changes in cam timing. This can be corrected with a camgear, but I wouldn't go that route just yet.

Also make sure they used the correct headgasket.

Otherwise that car would be back to them ASAP.

My initial thoughts... timing...

Your powersteering may also be going out (something doesn't sound right though). But timing would explain your power issue.

milling the head flat doesnt change the cam angle, it raises compression and not by much. there is certainly a spec though. as for the steering, what youre describing is common to the 6thgen civics, check your power steering housing for cracks and check the mounts. Sometimes the bushings wear out or maybe some bolts were removed and not put back but what youre feeling is the entire steering rack shifting from side to side. Your loss of power however, is a hole different ball game, it could possibly be an out of phase camshaft, but youd be throwing a code for that. speaking of which, do you have any CEL's?

hmmm now that you mention it there was an extra bolt left on the hood... im going to try and flush the oil and put cylinder sealent in it... no CEL has come on... the steering seems to have fixed itself put the power is low and the car just feels different... my poor baby
