Default Color changing...does it affect book value in a negative way?

Like the post says, does changing the color of a car affect the book value in a ngative way? My DC2 is currently Milano Red, but I was considering switching the color. I know the VIN number says the color the car is, but if I change it, will the insurance devalue the car more just because of the color change?

It would for me. Unless you do it right and take the whole car apart and paint everything.

Shouldnt devalue the car with the insurance, as long as you have receipts to prove how much the color change cost you.

Oh, ok....well, I do plan to take the entire car apart to get it repainted...I just wanna change the color cuz I'm not a big fan of red.

If done right it can even bring the resale value of the car up. I mean brand new paint job is always nice. However make sure u do all the following:

- Paint entire engine bay/rad support/firewall/frame rails etc.
- inner fenders
- door jambs
- inner doors
- inner hood
- inner trunklid

im sure im missing stuff, but that would be the proper way to go for a full color change.

new paint on a car is always a down point for me

you never know how good the paint job is
if it was because of an accident
if they painted things like under the door panels

I have never bought a car that was a repaint and probably never will, nice factory paint IMO is a big selling point
