What's Up with the Vague, Crappy "Answers" People are Posting?
Man I've been reading the forum for the past few days, and I noticed a scary trend:
People are answering tech questions with shitty, vague, non informative, and sometimes flat out BS "answers."
If you guys need me to I can post links, but I want to spare the individuals the shame.
Answers that say "check this" when you have no clue whatsoever how to check the item, or even if that item is even remotely linked to a problem are annoying and misleading for others reading.
If you don't know an answer to a question then simply DON'T FREAKING REPLY!!! You're not helping anyone with the BS vague general answers. If you want to truly help with a legit tech Q then simply "bump" the topic.
Sorry to rant, but I've been seeing this repeatedly when trying to read and potentially answer some tech Qs. I don't know everything - far from it - but the stuff I don't know I also don't reply with BS either. I wish everyone could do the same.

Well as a moderator you can't control what people post unfortunately, but maybe if people adopted a sort of "public shaming" system where someone could kindly point out the BS as they see it in topics then maybe people who don't know what they're talking about might refrain from posting crapola next time.
I'm so tempted to post links, quotes, tc. but I'll try my hand at trying to help some more people out today rather than spend too much more time/energy on pointing out mistakes.

Well I know I have my share of dumb posts but it seems like a lot of these were either guided by misjudgement or maybe just trying to get extra information from the OP where it might be useful. I totally agree with you though, which is why I troll these boards for I'm not even gonna say how many hours in a day and maybe post 3-4 times.
