so i was wondering...how many of you are the second owners of your car?

ok so how many of you got screwed over because of the previous owner? lol

(raising hand!) bought mine after i reasearched about 20 of them.
it's Not too bad, the only problems i have had (7,000 miles so far) have been very minor!

1. Cat-Back Exhaust was Headache Loud!- maybe not a problem for some, but i drive with kids at times!
(we fixed it, back to a quiet "stock-type" for creepin' ...only cost around $220! )
2. both Tires AND old Rims had cracks in them- i found out when i went to change tires that i needed new rims also! i couldn't leave on cracked rims!
...it was Welded to try to fix them- which is NOT STREET LEGAL!
(OUCH! +$1,200 for neo's + msr's, BUT NOW she Grips like a kittten!)
3. Lowered nicely, but Stock Shocks! (Still works ok, but i get some wheel hop !)
4. Wired for a nice Stereo/Amp system... but MISSING STEREO and AMPS!!

...my guy bid it up at an auction- and shipped it to me (i'd looked for almost 2 years to find "THE RIGHT CAR!")
it seemed the ep3's around here were mainly rental returns, lease returns, corporate vehicles, 3rd owners, High Miles, dents, salvaged, etc....
99% were Not worth the $12K- 14K price tags! <-at the time he was wondering if i was really serious about buying one... then i got the message!

history of MY car: 1 Older Guy Owner, maint. records, i know the dealership where it was imported to.

at 28,000 miles he registered it as his "company car"...
"S.C. Custom Sound n Tint" read the stickers on the windows that i peeled off the sides.
Thick Perfect Tint! -i have a prescription for dark auto tint (bad eyes! )
only put about 6,000 miles/year acording to records.

he used the "Company car" way off using "Tax right offs" to mod his car, but he was no mechanic!
Paint was professionally done 3-tone (Taffetta White, Red Stripe, and Blacktop and topsides to match CF HOOD =$460) So that cost him =a grand- at least for paint, if not $2k!!

He put the best Injen CAI he could get into, it had to be cut, professionally done (Looks Like its Supposed to be there!) etc... how much is that? = under $500?

Reflashed- RPM goes until 72-7300RPM! = $$$?

2+1/2" Down tube to CF Exhaust Fart Can! = $???

<U>--- at 40,000 it was repo'd and went to auction </U> ...so did everything else he wasn't paying taxes on!

Sucks to be him! in 2002 he paid $17K(+Dealer fee's and add-ons (RUSTPROOOFED! =$800)
He puts $3-4K in Upgrades.... = $20K!!!!
...i paid a little over half that this spring... Car is SOLID and feels more "New" than our '05! (Maybe it's just all that Extra Power from the "DOHC iVtec"? lol)

Never buy New... Always used!

 

hey when you said you had to replace the exhaust with a "stock" type what did you replace it with? I've got the same issue, bought mine with this ungoddly loud exhaust that sticks out from the bumper about a foot.

 

my mechanic said "No Problem, i can find these anywhere!"
after 2 phone calls later...
"Um, i can't seem to find one that will fit, may take longer, i'll call you back..."
"We had found one, and had it on, but it sounded the same? i'll call you back..."

it sat there for about 2 days... he found one that barely fit- and had to cut about 1/2" out of the bumper.....


i'll post pics in a while, but i have no idea what it is... it "Sounds" stock- but looks aweful!
i had to return for them to weld a chrome tip on to make it look "ok?"

(it still sticks out a little, but its better than the CF Fart Cannon that was installed before!) ..more later!

yeah i'm going to have to replace the rims with a new pair because previous owner spraypainted them black (just bought the gunmetal OEM 16" rims)
my sideskirts look like pure ***, they have these gay wings at the end of them on top of that the owner put a damn screw in one of the sideskirts that went straight into the car.. i was pissed when i saw that (unfortunately, it was a month later that i noticed that).
the exhaust sounds like a pissed off bumble bees in a folgers can echoing inside the car plus the mufflers tip sticks out like a foot from the bumper. the rotors need replaced on top of the brake pads that need to be replaced. I had a huge big metal shift ball that was a shift **** and saw that the shift boot was torn. (i just replaced that with a stock console). The previous owner put stupid *** silver decal stuff on the inside of the car, took all that crap off. the CF hood was so faded it looked like someone pissed all over it, on top of the front bumper having no lip and fog lights that didn't even work. lucky but unlucky, i got into an accident and i got my front bumper, new CF hood and a lip put back on so the front looks immaculate untill you look at the sideskirts. oh yeah.. the PS is going on my car, so i have to replace that. Luckily i have a job that pays me very very well and i can afford to fix my car back up.

nah i don't think yours is reflashed, it's standard for the rpms to go to 7200-7300 for the 02-04 typeS.

yeah mines a typeS. i don't have any pics of the car, i'm ashamed of it i don't even want to take pics of the car. When i get done with it, it will look 100x's better.
