use at least a 24" breaker bar with a metal pipe over it as an extension. you can use a 12" breaker bar as well but, make sure you use the extension for the extra leverage to get the nut off.

if that doesn't work, try using a large impact gun with the air compressor compressed to at least 125 psi.

it makes it tons easier of you have the wheel on the car and the car on the ground. Then put a pipe over your breaker bar, then put a towel over the bar/pipe so that it wont sratch your wheels.

Make sure you have as little extension on the socket as possible. Making sure the bar is close to the wheel, thats why you need the towel.

Then STAND ON it. and BOUNCE.

Good luck. It helps to have two people so that the other person can make sure the socket stays on the nut.

Is the nut still staked? Make sure you push the staked part back out so it can turn. I usually use a punch and tap it back out with a hammer.

for the lower control arm? if so, yes, you remove the pin and seperate the balljoint. you can rent one at a general autoparts store. but, from experience, those balljoint seperators need a lot of wiggling and jiggling to fit in between the lower control arm and the knuckle.

what i used was a three prong seperator that looks like a claw and that works really well for me.
