Default coolant and oil mixing

so the car is an EM1 and its not the original motor.. we put in the new engine (hoping for the best) and the engine quickly started overheating.. it wasnt due to vaporlock i've mastered fixing that already.. but instead the coolant was mixing with the oil.. i presumed it was the head-gasket so we changed it (this wasnt my first time so i'm sure i did it rite) but the coolant is still mixing with the oil and visa versa.. would else could this be?

1. Blown head gasket/improperly installed head gasket

2. Warped cylinder head deack surface or block deack surface or both

3. Crack in water jacket or any passage holding oil or coolant

Did you have the head resurfaced and pressure tested at a machine shop?

no it was previously resurfaced (you can tell) and it wasnt the original headgasket either.. i'm thinking a crack in the water jacket

Well previously resurfaced doesn't mean anything if you're having to replace the head gasket. That head gasket you replaced leaked for a reason, and it very well could have been a warped cylinder head deck surface.

Oh well it sounds to me like you need to start looking for another engine, because IMO I'd never try to salvage an engine that has had coolant mixing with the very oil that is supposed to be lubricating my main bearings, rod bearings, cylinder walls, etc. etc. It'll never be right again.

Exactly what does that mean? ...and since you obviously know what you're talking about can you tell us exactly HOW he could go about "checking the water jackets" so we can all see what to do?

i just helped my friend put an engine together, it sounds like you had the same situation we went through, we went through 3 head gaskets, had the head resurfaced and got new dowels for the head. instead of hooking everything back up and before putting the cams and stuff back on, just bolt the head down, connect all your hose and run water through the radiator and pump it, wait like 2-5 min for it all to flow through, if you didn't connect your oil line, you should see water coming out of it, if you do something wasn't plugged up in there. my buddy took his head to get cleaned and he had to change his valves on piston #1 since it was messed up but we eventually had to use a diff head. that's how the oil got into the radiator and how it got to the whole block, head, and oil pan. unbolt your oil pan bolt to see if water runs through that too. i'm not sure if this helps but that's what we did to trouble shoot the problem...

he got his head pressure checked and all that good stuff too. we finally figured where it was leaking after 2 weeks of trouble shooting...
