2001 prelude tranny
planning on purchasing an 01' lude and i was reading the reviews, and the overall rating on the powertrain from a scale of 1 to 10 it got a 5, for all of you out there with a lude how well has your powertrain/tranny held up over the years.
also i was thinking they were referring to the auto tranny, not the manual cause most of the time the manual tranny will out last the auto any day, i mean if you drive well.

not a serious problem? That 5th gear grind is a sign that you tranny is going out. You'll know when when you don't have a reverse gear anymore.

I don't know about what problems others are having but my 5 speed has a problem going into first at time. The sincs go bad after while. (110,000) on mine.
Take a Rating of 10 for manuals and 0 for autos, and that gives you the 5 you saw.
Honda manual trannys are some of the best around....
Alot of these guys having ~100k mile manual problems brought it upon themselves. They may have learned to drive on the car or a previous owner did. That'll wreak havoc on your trans.
for Honda Manual trannys.....
Honda is about as good with Autos as GM is with reliable 4cyls.

I have a 97 SH with 155K miles and the only issue I have is the 3rd gear grind (damn granny shifting into 3rd) . It started to act up around 140K. These trannys are meant to take a beating as they are one of the best. (manual not auto)
