quick wiring question 1989 civic std.
what are the connections for the distributor from the obd0 std. 5 wire harness to the new 7 wire obd 1 plug? I had the obd1 dist. plug swapped for the crx hf plug but the guy who bought my mini me conversion does not know how to wire up the dizzy. im sure its in the faq but i couldnt find it. just a link to the page would be great. thanks
ps, please dont hate on the noobishness

thanks for the info, but i had already found that one. my issue is with a std wiring harness (dpfi) it has 5 wires going to the dist. plug in the harness and none of the wire colors match up. that guy was dealing with an si.
nobody? i dont even really need to know, its just the mechanic installing my old parts on this dudes car for him doesnt know how to wire the distributor and i told him i would try to find out by tomorrow.
those both list 7 wires to work with and the guy is saying that the stock harness for the civic std. hatchback has only 5 wires in the harness. is this a matter of tracing the wires all the way back to the harness? (i really dont know what he's talking about, since ive only dealt with the hf and si harnesses. thanks for the help guys.

For clarification purposes...are you attempting to run a DPFI as OBD1??
If my memory isn't too bad, I believe that the two additional wires for the Si distributor connector that the STD/DX doesn't have is for the Cam Angle/Position Sensor. I recall that specifically because I run a DOHC ZC in my hatch and the sensor itself isn't integrated into the distributor like a D16A6 is. Hope that little piece of info helps locate your wires... If you need to add them, easiest thing to do is run them from the ECU plug itself through one of the holes in the fire wall and connect it directly to the OBD1 distributor plug.
*If you choose to do it that way, add some sort of removable connection along those two wires in case you need to pull the harness and/or engine later.

DURR! Now I remember something too. That chart I gave you was for MPFI. Okay, he probably doesn't have the right kind of dizzy. That one, five wires, is DPFI. He'll need the 88-91 SI dist. That one does have the two extra wires. He gets that and should be easy to color match the 7-to-7 connectors.

no no no
ok- clarification
its a 89 civic std. hatch hes converting to obd1 and does not have enough wires in the stock harness in the plug going to the dist. the stock harness has 5 wires and the new, obd1 dist has 7. he needs to know how to wire the dist.

Like 24TEN said, first it needs to be converted to MPFI. Then you can match up the colors and functions as illustrated in Fuzzy Rhubarb's chart.

Right on. So aside from the dizzy plug, you have to wire up two additional fuel injectors to complete the DPFI to MPFI conversion. After that, you can do the OBD0 to OBD1 conversion.
Sounds like his mechanic is already way in over his head. The dual point distributors dont have a cyl 1 position sensor, so the 2 wires for it arent in the factory harness. Read this twice, (At least the wiring section) and get back to us in teh morning.
