yeah so these guys come flyin up to me as I am leaving the bank and say they got this great *** deal for me cuz their truck was overbooked meaning they had to extra to sell. anyways to make a long story short i bought two digital audio 3 way home theater speakers 400watts rms model DA2012 for $120 what you guys think??? i got a pic if it'll help lemme know cuz i am very interested to c if i got screwed

 

it is a lil shakey but they were brand new (in the box) and the retail price was on em 999.95 so i thought what the hell...he showed me a magazine with them for like 999.95 also i just hope they werent stolen cuz that aint cool

hahaha. they're not hot. around here we call them "white van" speakers. you get what you pay for regarding sound quality. they're great party speakers cuz you can crank the volume and if they blow... who gives a **** cuz you can get another set for 125 bucks.

Ive never been approached to buy speakers but man I went to DC once and every homeless dude on the street was sellin fake oakleys heh

 

actually, most of the time what really goes on is that the people selling the items are workers for an actual store or warehouse. They like to give the line "Theres too many items in our van when compared to our inventory list, so we got to get rid of it". In reality, thats how most of these business's sell there stuff. It appears like your getting a great deal b/c they seem to be getting screwed if they dont get rid of it...but thats not the case. More than likely, theres several other vans out there that are doing the same thing. I know this b/c I used to do it. I cant really say its a scam either b/c my boss alwayss sold top notch stuff. I cant say the same for others though.

I did remember a guy buying a vcr off the street and it had a brick inside.

 

This was profiled on 20/20 or 60 minutes or whatever...they actually found the factory that makes the speakers and the owner of that factory, who ended up hiding from the camera. The show had some speaker experts run various tests on the speaker...

If you paid more than $80, you got ripped...I will try to find that story...it was about 2-3 years ago. My brother got swindled at his college parking lot..he paid like $150 or so.

 

when i was in San Jo, some dudes in a cadillac was truing to sell me some ******* Business SUits.. i was like WTF?.. they had Italian accents also.. i think he said Armoni.. or whatever.. how u sp it..

I was like Hell No, he said CHio and left..
Then later he came back again.. *when we had the CSI meet* i saw his monkey as.s. he said he has to leave on a Flight and needs to sell it for more Money..

It's not a scam. I actually unknowingly applied for a job to do that crap. As soon as I found out, I high-tailed it out of the office w/o even speaking with anyone. The stuff isn't hot, but it is kinda a scam. It is completely legal, however. The company makes the speakers and creates those fake work orders and ads saying they are worth like $1500. They really only cost ~$50 to make and really don't sound THAT bad. Not worth the money: the salespeople are told to pressure the customer into an impulse buy. Looks like a good deal, but really isn't.

Last time this happened, I told the white van guys that I had talked to them before and heard the speakers and that I thought they were complete crap. Guy seemed surprised when I told him I was buying Bose and not those paperweights.

those people are here in AZ ...its NOT ILLEGAL and there NOT STOLEN....thats why youve never seen a cop asking them whats up...and if you have they dont get in trouble ...all the **** is legit and its right...the co makes up fake brochures that say the speakers are worth a bunch but they hardly even get sold anywhere but out of white vans....that IS there store...hehehehe i dont think you got scammed though...they do work good for parties
