what brand tweeters (or what size) can I put into the OEM pods from a 99 civic that will allow me to retain the tweeter grill?

 

none that i know of, the tweeter grill is connected to the tweeter itself if i remember right..

when i put my component system in my 00 civic i just popped the whole panel off the door, popped the old tweeter out of the panel, and put a new tweeter in (infinity kappa components). The new tweeters gave me several mounting options so now my grills are silver instead of the black they usually were.

Were you trying to retain the grills for stock look? There may be an aftermarket tweeter set or component system which has black grills, but i would say almost any standard 1" tweeter will do the job

 

you can take the grills off with a pick tool and some patience. the oem tweeters are pioneer. the pioneer part number is on the back.

 

i just wanted the stock look for mounting them in the pods. it would be a plus to retain the grill also. the set of tweeters i have are falling apart and one of them is separated from the grill.
