i have a problem guys. i have a 90 crx dx and just did a swap over to a z6 w/ obd1 conversion and everytime i startup the car it starts up but then it dies a couple seconds later. all the wires seem to be fine, what could be causing this?? please help!! thank you

 

Any Check Engine Lights? Let's start there. Also, have you tested the main relay?

 

check fuel pump?

 

there are no check engine lights. i was thinking the main relay too, but could it having anything to do with the obd0 to obd1 jumper harness??

 

Does it die when you give it gas?

When it starts is it idling poorly?

 

I would inspect and test the distributor and the ignition system, including timing.

 

i've checked the spark and fuel and they're all good. the car just starts like normals then dies 2 seconds later. i will check the ignition system. could the conversion wiring be doing this too??

 

take a hammer and gentley tap on your IAC, somtimes they stick, causing a initial start-up, and then to die out. If you can keep your car running with the gas pedal, but it dies out when you let off, that sounds like an Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). Hope this helps.

 

What ecu are you running?

 

I have the same problem, although its tempermental and can not happen for weeks. Then i start it, no matter how much gas i give itll die within a few seconds, then wont start for about ten mins. I've got a new distributer coming, ill let you know if it fixes the problem.

 

i'm running the p28 ecu, i'll try taping the IAC to see if that works.

 

Def check your timing. Also check the basics, Air, fuel, spark

 

got the car runnin but it still cuts out cause it getting to much gas?? umm when putting a d16z6 motor in a crx should i run the z6 injectors or should it switch i with the crx injectors??
