What to ride again. Need advise.
After reading about the new Kawisaki 250r a few threads below, I am thinking about picking one up as a commuter or weekend bike.
Background: Back in college, I had an Kawi ex250. After learning on the bike, I got a VFR and promptly was hit by a dodge ram and stopped riding. That was about 8 years ago.
Current problem: When I had the ex250, it was very sluggish when my wife (~115lbs) rode along. She has gained weigh since then is now ~135ish and I weigh about 150lbs. She says I will regret getting the 250r and should get something with more cc. I was thinking about picking up a used CBR and will limit spending to ~$4k (Saving up for a house). I am very weary of picking up a bike that has been dropped and I hear a lot of the ones on recycler.com and cycletrader are even though they are advertised as never been down.
Any advise?

I have a EX250, I HATE riding with someone on the back, the bike is very sluggish. If I were you, I would look in to a ninja 650, sv650, gs500.

I've owned a YZF600r and an SV650s. Either of those would make an excellent choice if you are going to be double up riding, but that isn't what you asked so I'll get on to your question.
I can see it being a problem on a 250, because my 420 pound 600r with 90 HP felt really weird with someone on the back. Keep in mind this was another full size guy doing double up riding, but it still felt weird. I imagine it would be much, much worse on a 250cc.

I was looking at the sv650, but not took much in terms of selection on the used market in the Antelope Valley.

Relive our youth a little bit. But I will probably be riding solo 90% of the time. It's the 10% of the time, with a passenger that has me looking for 500cc or greater.
But $3500 for a brand spanking new, never abused, light, agile, great looking, and did I mention $3500
It's a tough choice.

Two dudes should never share the same motorcycle. One guy's *** and another's crotch should never be that close. If i ran out of gas and a guy on a bike offered to give me a lift to the station, I'd just walk there (or have him bring me a gas can).
Pointless story: I was riding home from class the other day and two guys doubled-up on an old moped passed me... you know one of those 50cc things that are two small for a guy to be riding? Wish i had a camera for that one

There's nothing homosexual with needing to ride two-up if a problem occurs to one of the motorcycles. I've done this a few times already, either in the canyons (no cell reception, not a lot of cars passing through) and at the track.
Besides, where else can I get all cuddly with my friends?

Well we went about a quarter mile. My friend was borrowing my car, and it died on him on an on ramp about a 1/4 mile from his house. I wanted to get back to it quickly so it didn't get towed, he had no family at home and no other transportation, so we had to double up ride.
I have to say, although I am not gay, it was not the most comfortable thing to do. It really should be no big deal though.
