Honda Tuning Vortech GSR 14.9 1/4 MILE?
I got the new honda tuning and it had a GSR with a Vortech supercharger that supposedly gave it 100 hp, but only ran a 6.8 0-60 and 14.9 1/4 mile!! can some one explain that to me? I almost ran that in my old gsr with H/I/E.
The reason I believe barely ANYONE uses the vortech kit is because you don't get jack **** for power until PEAK rpms.... in other words your car drives like nothings new until about 7000+ rpms.... then again I just let the shear fact of NO ONE in the forced induction forum having it let that speak on its own... eveyone goes turbo or JRSC... nuff said.
yeah IMO the vortech supercharger sucks, for all that money for the kit its not worth it, it would be cheaper to get turbo and run times faster then that with ease. I think there is just to much hype about Vortech superchargers. My car has the Crvtec with I/H/E stock timing and fuel pressure regulator. And i ran a 14.2 at 98mph still with a little traction problemes with my street tires. I would rather go turbo. then supercharged any day.
I saw that article also, it made 245 peak to the wheels, but not until 8000-8200 rpms. 14.9 Sounds pretty weak, but maybe they couldnt get a good compromise they said a good driver could shave off .4-.5
There wasnt a graph I dont think either showing the power band and such.

something has got to be wrong. like someone mentioned earlier I/H/E and you should solidly be close to there. Even with the boost @ those high rpms you'd expect maybe a mid 14.
WHAT MPH?
The mph tells the potential of the car, spinning or not. Most of those sport compact so called "prof. race car drivers" can't drive for their life.

before you hate... consider the fact that its hard to get the HP to the ground. traction problems are a biatch... and if everyone concentrated more on traction than power... it would be alot easier to run low 14s and high 13s with no problem with the power that superchargers and turbos provide.

but still, $4,000 vortech kit and the times are close to stock, traction problems or not, thats pretty damn embarassing!!! Besides every FI car wether JRSC or Turbo has traction problems and they run much betters times than that, I'm not arguing with you just trying to make a point

14.9 with a Supercharged GS-R is WEAK! I have a friend who has a JRSC and other mods and ran a 12.9 with slicks! JRSC is much better IMO.
centrifugal supercharger = worst of a turbo (lag) plus worst of a roots style blower (uses crank power to spin it)
so at lower RPMs when the VSC isn't making power it is still sapping power from your car, until it is spooled it will use power. and that power it uses is low end torque, as you well know we don't have that torque to give away freely!

Traction with vortech really shouldn't be too bad, it doesn't make much power at 3500 so launching shouldn't be an issue.
I think someone said it a long time ago, forget who:
if you want to have decent times go jrsc
if you want to be fast go turbo
if you want to be able to brag about horespower and still be slow, go vortech

I can do a 98 trap speed in my all motor integra without wasting more than $1,000. Even if it had no traction, a 98 trap is a weak trap for any fi car.

but they also said it has a big friggin sub box in the back too.
Stop ripping on VorTech.
You guys should be ripping the ******* sorry-*** drivers at Honda Tuning.
there's a local guy here in Atlanta that ran his full interior 2000 Civic Si with 8lbs. on his VorTech at the dragstrip on baby M/T slicks.
Times:
12.9@???mph
REAL world runs are always different from the fake bullshit magazine racers.
How about a 13.4 out of the Cobra R that Sport Compact ran? What about Sport Compact's HKS turbo'd Civic Si and Integra GS-R running low 15's?
Hate on the VorTech all you want to, but I've seen what they can do on the B16A2 in a 2600lb. car, so imagine the 240whp in whatever car you choose - I've never seen a Jackson on 8psi push anything near 240whp.

Sucks for the guy that has that car.The Vortech charger sure does a lot more for my car than that. The 98 MPH part is what bothers me.With that power that car should be trapping a lot more than that.
I wonder what the elevation, temperature, track prep (if any) these assclowns ran the car at.
So I guess you all think that the car is slow because of this, right?

there's a girl here in nc that has 12 psi in her vortechn 99si, and is making 293 http://www.turbotuneusltd.com/honda/30&46.bmp , and she was doing 13.5s before this. http://forums.clubsi.com/showflat.ph...ts&Main=500039
