piked up a 94 gsr need sum tech info
sup fellas i piked up a 94 gsr off a older chinese guy.. for 1500 the car is mint.... you would think the car came off a showroom floor from far.. problem car got stolen in 01.. he kept it clean and all... now its missing seats ignition switch random dash vents clock ect... motor and tranns motor harness..axles ect.. you kno thats cool.. i have a complete swapp out of a 98gsr i have motor tranns axles shift likage.. i wanted to throw it in my 93 hatch but it can wait.. heres first question... what do i need to make the 98 motor work in the 94 correctly.. also i have both a 98 ecu and they left the 94 ecu... everything else should bolt up.. right? oh also if you guys have a gsr throttle cable or if you have a price from the dealer..
heres what i have 98 motor trans. 98 enginebay harness 98 computer..
what do i have to do to the harness? make it work?
2nd when they took the cluster the cut the wires.. off the plugs.. will any pre 96 wires work like ls rs... a/t or 5 speed?
thanks ill post pics on sat..

The motor is obd2a (would like to be corrected if I'm wrong)...

no. the 94-95 harness is 2 seperate harnesses. one for the engine and one going throught the firewall to the ecu. 96+ harness is just one harness. you would need a 94-95 (obd1) harness to use the 94 ecu or get a 0bd2 to obd1 harness convertor to the ecu. the ecu plugs are different

you can use the 98 harness, ecu, and motor it will all work but i think emissions might hassle you. you would need to add the extra cat convertor o2 sensor to be legit.
on my 94 ls i put a 00 ls motor in it i had to change the following:
-needed to use the 94 obd1 ecu
-need a obd1 intake manifold/throtttle body due to the vaccum lines being different
-obd1 engine harness
-obd1 ditsributor
there might be differences from the ls and gsr but i would assume it would be pretty close.

well as long as i can hook up the 98 harness with the 98 ecu everything works i good... all my cars "pass" inspection good connect anyways..
cool so its an all go on this project... 98 harness 98 ecu.. i orderd the key lock... looking for ft black leathers..
i promise thoes pic soon... ( i kno threds are worthless with out pics)

this is my last swap i did.. old motor was tost so i replaced it with another.. b18c1.. but this was 95 in a 95

94 gsr b18c1
96 RS Baby type-r 00convo B18c5

To make it legit as mentioned, you would need to use the 98+ header and cat w/ 2 bungs for O2 sensors, if you wanted to use the 98+ harness and ECU.
Or, you would need to get a 94-95 engine harness, distributor, and change the injector plugs (or use 94-95 injectors) to make it work under OBD1 emissions.

me & my neighbor did the exact same swap. using the obd2a harness with the obd1 ecu. everything that plugs to the harness is for obd2a. but the car, just like yours is an obd1 gsr. yeah obd2a requires some more sensors that are on the engine, but with the obd1 ecu not needing a reading you should be fine.
