my sister gave me her '89 crx si ...she hasn't transferred to car under my name yet....ok, i'm planning on doing a b16 swap....now last nite my friend told me that if i register the car under my name, that the dmv will do an inspection on the car...is this true? thanks

 

only inspection they'll ask for is smog check. so just smog it, register it and then swap it

 

the car hasn't been running for 'bout 3 years....do u think if i try to get it to run, it will pass smog?

 

but then what about next year? look for a usdm swap...less mess

 

Actually if the car is transfered between family members in the same state, you don't have to pay tax on it or smog it if the smog is current on it. If it's been 2 years since the last smog you gotta smog it on the next registration. Just smog it the day before you do the swap. That's what I did on my last crx. Literally 6 hours after I got done with the smog, the engine was out of the car.
