Location of DTC on Accord 2000 LX model?
I have the SRS light on. I have read the FAQ, and I've done the reseting the SRS light. The light blinks, it workd for a fw hours, and its on again. I've re-done the SRS light reseting, but now the SRS light is always on.
So now I want to get the DTC codes to figure out what is wrong? I have the DTC code info. I just need to know where is the DTC located ?
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks!

You either have a bad seat belt buckle or an OPDS unit or seat pad.
All of which is covered under the extended warranty. If you take it to the dealer they will take care of it for free.

The data link connector is just above the hood release handle.

Thanks.
I will go check for it. Is there any diagram to give me a clue to easily find it ? Or what color it is, etc.
BTW, I do not have the extended warranty.

Many emission and air bag and anti lock brake systems received an automatic extended warantee from the government forcing car makers to comply.
The DLC may have a beauty cover over it, the actual DLC should be black and have 16 pins, somewhat of a rectangle shape with the short sides not parallel. One post stated it above the hood release. See if some of the H-T FAQ's give the location.

(Supersedes 06-009, dated March 22, 2006, to update the information marked by the black bars)
BACKGROUND
Several vehicle models may have a problem with the
OPDS (occupant position detection system) that

To ensure continued reliability with the OPDS,
American Honda is extending the warranty on the
OPDS unit and the OPDS sensor to 10 years or
150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
This warranty extension does not apply to any vehicle
that has ever been declared a total loss, or any that

Evil Monkey- Thanks, I didn't know about extended warranty for SRS light.
Duane- By DLC do you mean DTC. The apparatus to get the SRS trouble code(s)? I searched, and I think I did founnd a 16-pin gray block near the hood release latch.. But I was expecting a two pin loose connecter. When I opened teh driver's side fuse box, I saw two 2-pin loose connecters. One was blue, and the other was gray ? -Any chance any of these is the DTC ?
If teh 16-pin is the DTC, where do you connect the wire/papaerclip to getr the codes ?
I will definitely take the car to the dealer.
However, I'm curious as to where the DTC is, so that I can learn how to retrieve the SRS trouble codes.
thanks for all your help guys.

DTC, Diagnostic Trouble Code.
DLC, Data Link Connector.
SRS wiring will all be Yellow connectors and harness coverings, there will be a two wire connector plugged into the fuse box area, it is plugged into a dead end connector, no wires going out the other side, its there for safety and security (dust cover). This is the connector uses for reseting the SRS bulb, procedures are in the FAQ sections, very touchy.
Side note, ABS wiring uses all Orange connectors, look under the hood if you have ABS and you will notice this too.

Just an update on my situation.
I took the car to a Honda dealer. I asked them to look at the SRS light. I inquired about an extended warranty. He pulled up the info relating to my VIN #, and nothing came out. He said that if its a seatbelt problem, they'll fix it for free. They would charge a $95 diagnostic fee, which would be waived if you fixed the car there.
In my case it was a seatbelt and I got lucky. However, the most prudent thing to do is perhaps really find out from your VIN if a recall is applicable.
Thanks for you help, guys !

i've got all teh info on the recall. my SRS light is on and i reset it but unfortunately it came back on. I read in the bulletin that got sent out that they are to inspect the opds for free regardless of whether its under warranty or not. Now here is my confusion. OPDS is that for side like passenger airbag or side like door airbag?
Moreover how do i tell if i have one (opds) befor ei take it to the dealer? i ahve a 2000 4cyl auto cpe EX with cloth seats. is it in the vin number somewhere or included with a certain trim level? Thanks

OPDS = occupant position detection system. It determines the size and seating position of the person sitting in the passenger seat on side airbag equipped vehicles.
Thanks a lot for the extended warranty info. I went to the dealer when my srs light came on in my 2000 Accord LX 4dr. auto. They didn't even mention the extended warranty info but luckily at that time I didn't feel like spending the $95 diagnostic test fee. But thanks to this thread I'll be visiting my local dealer sometime this week.
