You have warped rotors. Due to the age of the car and how much of a pain they are to replace I would go ahead and replace them rather than trying to resurface them.

(Might not be a bad time to do a conversion)

The parts are not as expensive as the labor. You have to remove the hub and replace both wheel bearings in order to do so.
Not sure how much the parts are but if you give the 800 number on http://www.magauto.com a call they will give you a good price.

You might be lucky and just have to use an on car brake lathe if a shop finds that the rotors are thick enough. But I doubt they will be.

when you say "stop at a red light" are you sitting still not moving or moving and coming to a stop when you feel the vibrations?

There you go being smart again...

Now that I re- read it you might have a broken transmission mount....
Is the steering wheel shaking violently when the car is stopped?

Sorry if I was leading you in the wrong direction. Reading fast isn't always a good thing.

Well I feel dumb now.

If the steering wheel is shaking violently with the car stopped you probably have a broken trans mount.

ok, but are you moving or not when you feel the vibrations in the steering wheel?

no offense but you still haven't clarified that.
