Top got slashed last night... Nothing got stolen so I almost want to think it was just an act of vadalism. They sliced about 4 inches of my plastic right at the bottem of the window. Went to leave for work and noticed it. Checked for everything and nothing was taken, so they WERE going to steal something or my car and got spooked, or just desided to cut my top.

I've just got it getto taped up for now but it there anything I can do to seal that up or is it all ruined?

x2, your insurance should cover the price of a new top, i would ask if you can get a hard top instead so this doesnt happen again. you may have to pay a little out of pocket though. good luck dood.

did you insurence go up any after you reported it. that's the only reason I wouldn't want to report it

Most insurance companies won't jack your rate up until a 2nd or 3rd claim...then you have become a higher risk.

still havent talk to my insurance hahahha been so BUSY

I have this as well .. does that mean they will jack it up? Because i heard that if you get into an accident they will drop you like nothing ...

Progressive jacked up my rate after i got into an accident (not at fault ) so why didnt they jack up your rate for that santos?

in aug.06 i was in a hit and run some 14 year old hit me with a tundra he was drunk and on drugs and hit 12 other cars after me.....
reported it thru progressive and they went after the parents insurance which paid the damages, then 3 months later is when my top got messed up and they covered the damages... not 1 penny went up on my plan... then in march07 is when my car was totalled and they paid it off..

I've got SafeCo. How much would a new top( with glass back window) and to have it put on cost? just trying to get an idea.

u get can robins top for less then $500 then install is cake if u know what your doing with a friend... installed mine in about 2 hours...

Well I was thinking more on the the lines of an OEM one. If im going to put it on insurance then I'll get my moneys worth.

 

robins are nice tops.. they will cut the check and then u can get one of those or get a used OEM one so that u can pocket some $$
if not a new canvas from the dealer is about 900-1200 i think.....

what about labor? i could do it , i put one on my miata and that wasn't to bad.

the only reason i wouldnt file in on insurance is i have a $500 deductible so i am at least spending that much

 

i have a $500 deduct as well... and still got a $1300 check

 

my 00' plastic window was all tatered so i just bought a glass top off ebay brand new from topsonline.com fits perfect+++ 535.00 shipped just hope this doesent happen to me anytime soon. took me about 5 hours to take off and new one on

 

damn sorry to hear, i dont leave alot of valueables in the car but if i do i lock the glove box and throw it all in the trunk and leave my doors unlocked lol i know it sounds crazy but it just might save you a rag top

but yea talk to your insurance, it all depends on how high your deductable is if its 1k then your basically fucked
