Default Burning Oil

Well I did as MUCH research as possible to make sure this hasnt already been discussed, although maybe it was and the topic wasnt in the title.
soooo...
I just put a H22a1 out of a wrecked 93 prelude (mind you it flipped over on its roof, didnt know untill i already comitted to the deal ) into my 2000 Civic Si. We got everything wired up, tuned and so forth. All in all the swap went pretty well. buttttt, im burning out some how. I topped off the Oil this past Sat., checked it today and it was a full quart low.

the motor is bone stock, crome tune, cai, and full exhasut (stock header)....not that any of that would have anything to do with it, that i know of but just lettin you know to be specific.

Im thinkn its either bad valve seals, piston rings or....idk
advise?

what color is the smoke?
is it smoking during warm up?
Does it smoke all the time or only when you step on the gas?
How many miles are on the engine?

Well, you made the mistake of buying a junk USDM Motor.......
this is why I always suggest JDM motors......

Now, me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block...
...and replace the piston rings you fried.

Welcome to the Honda Oil Burning Support Society!

Just curious what you paid for the engine.....

USDM h22s are know for burning oil. Just keep checking the level every time you fill up. The motor should last a while even if it's leaking if you always check the levels.

Actually its all H22s......USDMs are just notoriously junk when they are sourced. They aren't retired for the same reasons USDMs are. I had a USDM H22A1 in my Si and it was junk.....supposedly only had 100k miles on it.....

hahaha yeah i made a impulsive decesion to get more power and seems like i made a bad one, it was just a trade, my motor for that motor and i paid 500 for wiring and tune. But its also a lil rich but its not when i start it up. When i start it up, it doesnt do anything but wants i give it some good throttle it begins the maddness. Mostly noticeable when accelling but after its been given throttle its always comin out....its whiteish blue. But im def. burnin oil cause the level keeps going down after topping it off

whitish blue??? isnt that a sign for a blown head gasket? (coolant/oil mix) ?

well see thats what i was thinkin too but my temp has been fine, water level is good, but if its a head gasket, jesus id be one happy camper cause that aint hard at ALL to fix. But if its my rings.........****** a im in some ****
i plan on pullin off the head but i just was wonderin what the odds are of it bein the rings cause i for damn sure dont want to pull that motor back out to get new rings and have to get it honed and ****, by then i might as well rebuild the whole bottom end...

Its more than likely going to be bad rings...
RESEARCH your next step.......
Use the "Measure 10 times and cut once theory!"
You may find that buying a JDM shortblock/longblock outweighs most rebuild you can think of. I can get JDM lonblocks for ~$11-1200.
Start doing the math on a rebuild and you'll see......

I had the same problem so i had the valve seals checked and they were fine and then I had the piston rings replaced. It has 2200 miles and I am already gettin ready to put my third quart of oil in. Any clue or suggestions what could be happening. No leaks cause I park the same place in the driveway everyday.

no leaks, what about trying synthetic oils??. If your seals are new try an oil that has a better thermal breakdown protection (if your not already)

If anything, synthetic oils are going to cause the leaks. I've posted atleast 4 times this week on this. Simple breakdown so you get the jist of it:
Seals are accustomed to whatever oil they see the majority of the time, which is usually a conventional, non-synthetic oil. Synthetic oil contains detergents which will eventually start eating away the "bad oil" and parts of the seal(s), thus causing an oil leak. Either use synthetic from day one, or you're not doing yourself really any favors.

Why do you have a "crome tune" on a stock motor? Also what year is the motor? How hard did you drive it over the last few days? Welcome to the Two Dub Club.
