Hmm. More than buying a Si instead of the ex for sure. But hey, if you do it, hooray lower insurance.

welcome welcome. You can learn a lot here, just try to be as educated as you can also. Use the search for general questions and you won't make everyone mad. (we get a lot of people who do not or choose not to use the search feature)

As for your question it IS possible, but it would be cheaper just to buy an actual Si. A K20Z3 MOTOR ALONE can run you $5,000. The tranny, probably a few grand as well. So unless you decide to trade up later, be happy with what you have.

Also, Si motor = K20Z3
DX,LX,EX motor = R18A1

Not so much bashing. It's just not practical to do a K20 swap in an EX. If you were gonna do a swap youd be better off buying a DX, putting a K20A in it, and put a roll cage in her and call it a day.

Why would you need a roll cage in a 200HP car??

I agree, the bashing is dumb. But.. for the most part, the bashing is warranted because people say the most unrealistic things.. like boosting an R18 to 300 hp or something like that.

youre totally right...but there are some that dont understand other benefits fron having a non si, and start right away with the bashing....personally, i wouldnt mind if my car were a little more efficient, with maybe a k&n, or high flow cat or something that wont improve hp, but will keep my car running cooler, cleaner, or with an extra noise coming from the cai....NOT exoecting beating si's on the track....

No we understand the benefits....but what I don't understand is why you would buy an EX and then want to swap for an Si engine. You're looking at spending several thousand dollars just to do that alone. And even when you do the engine swap you still don't have the braking power or handling of an Si which means you have to go for that setup next. And considering the fact that the Si is 6 speed and the EX/LX/DX are 5 speed I would assume a new transmission is needed to.

And for what? To save a little money on insurance?? To add 8mpg to a car which will go out the window as soon as the swap is completed?? To save 100 lbs. of weight which is insignificant considering the amount of money needing to be spent???

It just doesn't make logical sense to me. But hey that's just my $.02.
