Default Type SH ecu vs base ecu

The 2 ecus are different by part number.

Type SH - P5P
Base - P5M

However the SH comes with a seperate computer for ATTS, so what is the real difference between the two computers. Can they be interchanged ?

Well, a Base ecu obviously won't work in an SH. However, I don't see any reason why an SH ecu wouldn't work in a Base. You'll just have an extra slot that you won't use.

I was told you can't use an SH Ecu due to the Atts programing (two chips working together) but I could be misinformed.

I've run my p5p ecu without the atts control unit attached without any problems.

I can't answer for sure, but there shouldn't be any reason you can't use a base ecu in an SH if you don't care about the ATTS. You will have to make sure the years match if it's a '97 or '98 I think; '99-'01 should be interchangeable. Reason being is that emissions things changed in those first years so the wiring and components are slightly different.
