Default halfshaft bearing/set ring?

I recently had a 96 ITR swapped into an ek, got my car back, a few days later I noticed a squeeking noise, like the sound of brake pads going out coming from where the halfshaft(left side) connects to the tranny, It looks like there is a seal of some sort that appears it was pryed off by the shop install, what is it and does it need to be replaced with a new one when you reinstall the halfshaft/axel? I want to do it myself, cant trust many shops around here. Thanks!
