Ive got into this debate several time and i don't have the time to type out pages of info from my research. According to 3 defferent oil manufacturers, if you have a "DRY clutch" normally found in Ducs you can run just about anything within specs of the manufacturer ie: 10w40
if your bike has a wet clutch, running normal car oil puts you in risk for a slipping clutch due to a chemical called "..." i couldnt remember/find the name and i need to get back to work. check out this link http://vfrworld.com/tex_vfr/tech/oil.htm

i'm one of those that often says, "why?" why can't you run car oil in a motorcycle? moto oil feels like car oil. it looks like car oil and im sure it taste like car oil too. so whats different about it? not a whole lot.
synthetic isn't necessarily better lubricating but offers better protection against breakdown.
people need to stop assuming that everything they hear is true.

Unless you plan on racing at the track (or streets) and keeping the motor near redline, then use synthetic. If you just plan on cruising around, then I think you're wasting money buying synthetic.

yeah its getting colder out i might switch back to the 10-40, 20w-50 seems to work better in 100+ summers. Yeah friction modifiers can cause wet clutches to slip. I read Amsoil's report, pretty impressed. My friend goes to MMI, motocycle mechanics institute, all there long time instructors swear by amsoil and they been building motorcycle engines for years so im pretty confident.

that's the stupidest excuse ever. There's a detergent in a lot of car oils that will make your clutch slip. The stuff you need to avoid using is the energy conserving oils. Mobil 1 synthetic works though. I personally use Honda GN4 though since I change oil a lot on the bike. I find these arguments stupid in the first place too. You guys go out and buy an expensive bike then cheap out on **** like tires and oil. wtf! Honda GN4 isn't expensive at all. I'd understand if you were trying to get repsol or motul every time. Don't be a douchebag and get good oil.

i dont think the detergents make the clutch slip, from research its the friction modifiers like molybdenum that "can cause" wet clutches to slip. AMSOIL's test's really show you the oils you thought were good and the ones that are good. kind of an eye opener

I use Shell Rotella "Synthetic" 5W-40 in my YZF600. I use Motorex 10W-30 in my RC51 since I couldn't find any Maxima oil locally.
I'll likely go with Rotella on all my vehicles @ the next service interval.

I have a really noob question, for the crush washer can i use the same size one as i use for a car(ie integra) or is the motorcycle drain bolt smaller than a car?

I was using this in my F4i for a while, but it didnt shift as well as with the motorcycle stuff - I've gone to just using Honda bike oil, the price is about the same.
