Default MD/DC/VA Track Day Oct 26: Summit Main

Last NESBA track day of the year on Summit Main. Myself and 3 other friends are signed up in the Beginner group. I may go for a bump to Intermediate in the afternoon, but we shall see.

Anyone else interested? It's a Friday track day, since it's the last Main day though, turnout could be big.

This will be my cherry popping experience on Main, yeehaw

I'm gonna look into it... There's an off chance I could goto VIR in Nov and if there's a choice I'll do VIR.

I'll believe it when I see it. And frankly the old pavement was never a huge issue. The issue is the close walls in half the corners. Granted there are some bumps and potholes but 3 days and not giving it any time to cure (if this yearly rumor is even true) and then instantly throwing cars back on it, it's gonna turn into the same thing as before.

the potholes and bumps added character

lol. Something about a cold summit main track worries me. Great traction when it's warm but cold fall day with dew all over = slip and slide. Even worse with a full nesba B group (granted last time ran perfectly smooth)

with the new pavement, the pace will be faster, the crashes will be greater... i hope they just fix the cement to asphault transission will be smoother. 1" drops while are not a huge issue, are annoying.

at any rate, just be safe

exactly. Someone on wera also mentioned that summit is getting road atlanta's old air fence stuff since they're getting newer/better stuff. I'd still like to see the turn 3, turn 4, turn 6, turn 8, turn 9, and turn 10 walls moved back some. I know turn 4 is problematic due to the current wall being anchored right in front of a very large slab of granite that'd cost a lot of money to work around.

walking the track was interesting the first time. Really noticed a lot of stuff that I clearly wouldn't have noticed before. Like the cross hatching in the concrete and how ******* close the wall is in turn 8. heh

actually what I just heard today was they aren't going to do the whole thing and it's a relatively small operation. Which likely means fixing some stuff here and there and not everything. Would be cool to see outside of turn 6 fixed and some potholes filled
