XM or Sirrius?
I have the Alpine XM box, activated, but not yet in the car. Got it for free. It's going on 4 months. I need to get a deck first.. I'm eyeing the cda7998.
I think satellite radio is a cool concept. $10 to $12 bucks a month for unlimited radio listening for 60-100 different channels without the analog hissing and crosstalk is well worth the money. I think that most people will had XM or Sirrius to the compatible deck instead of getting a CD changer first. Most people never change the CDs to often anyway. If you think about it, the satellite radio harware is about $300 and so its your typical CD changer. A CD to put in the changer is 12 bucks or so. It's really pretty reasonable IMHO for what you get.
If you haven't had a chance to play with it, you should definitely do so.

xm has a commen complaint of repeating music from one day to an other...not the same day. sirrius is gonna be broadcasting video in the near future so my kenwood rep told me. sirrius has better coverage as far as cutting out or dead spots.

Sirus has a better coverage that is true due to the placement of the satalite. The problem is they use a infirior compression format that yelds a very less then satisfactory sound quality. Now do get me wrong it is better then radio, but compared to XM the quaility is below par, and for the drop outs, they happen. I have yet to have them happen but they do. And both do it. It relly depends on what Stereo system you want to have in your car. I wouldn't have anythiong less then a Alpine. So I was locked into XM. No complaints here!
