Upgrading Factory 08 Civic EX Stereo
I just bought an '08 Civic EX sedan and the stereo sounds halfway decent, but only if you pump up the bass and treble to three or four each. This is not acceptable as the bass is still pretty thin. I have an Alpine MRP-F320 5-ch amp and Xtant 10" sub that I had driving the aftermarket Alpine head unit in my old '94 EX coupe which sound very good. I would like to know if this gear would go into my new car to enhance the factory set-up without too much trouble? My objective is to make this as inexpensive as possible with the only purchases hopefully being another amp-wire kit and maybe an adapter harness to come off the factory stereo.
You will need to purchase a line out converter to connect the amp to your factory stereo.
Although you weren't clear on whether or not you're putting an Alpine deck into the new Civic, that can be done as well, a couple of different ways, actually.

^^^ Don't remember the OP saying he was amping his interior speakers... Although it'll allow for any future expansion, the Cleansweep is definitely overkill for someone who just wants a little bump in the trunk.
Yeah. I know about JL Audio's CleanSweep, Rockford Fosgate's

, and I think Alpine makes something like these devices too. Minimum cost of one of these DSPs is about $300(from Crutchfield). The goal though is to keep the existing factory stereo and factory speakers just adding the 5ch. amp and sub in the trunk. Maximum effect for minimum cost.
If I were to splurge on a DSP though, I'd probably go with the RF 3SIXTY.1. Seems like it would do everything I need and a much more for the least cost.

I've been listening to it more as stock and after fading 100% to the back find the factory rears to be worthless POS speakers. They will need to be replaced by a decent pair of 5.25 inch something or others. I was thinking 2-way would be fine. Any preferences out there as to brands or models? Bass will not be a huge issue as I'll probably install them with a set of bass cut-offs to let the sub do the heavy lifting. At what frequency should I cut off the bass? There are many choices.
Definately look at the Pioneer REV speakers for coaxils. They dont come in 5.25" though.
The D601P is the Pioneer Premier line but from what ive read they are the same speakers.

Thanks, but 6.5"s is just a little too big for the location and I don't plan on doing any cutting on a 2-week old car. I found some on Crutchfield's site...Kicker KS525's and Alpine SPS-13C2's that both got good consumer reviews. Both are the exact same price. $80.99 through their outlet and they include any adapters I might need.
