Default ex tranny on my d15b?

I have a d15b, the gears on the car are too long, would the ex tranny be a lot better?

Yes, either the D16z6 or D16y8 transmission will work fine.

ive already asked and i didnt get an answer. Nice updates on your live journal..im begining to find the d-series engines more facinating (mainly because they are way cheaper than b-series), too bad u stopped working on your y5 project Im also liking the new project though

haha ill answer it a little.

s20 is 92-95 with aluminum shift forks, s40 is 96-00 with steel shift forks.

si/ex gearing is very close to being the same. the only thing you want to look for is a round stamp with B000 in it. yes the si/ex tranny is better than a d15bnonvtec, but it is the same as a jdm d15bvtec.

oh and the guy above who said he pulled an ex tranny of a jdm d16z6, they didnt make d16z6's in japan lol. zc vtec, d16a vtec, and d15b vtec is what you want if you go jdm trannys

please read here as its good info : http://home.cinci.rr.com/mistab0ne/tranny.html

Don't know what size 14's you have so I just used 205/50/15's since thats a common size. I also figured you have a DX/LX.

yeah ive been there too. a lot of people/ shops either sell you a A000(cx,dx, lx, etc) bearing tranny not knowing its crappy or trying to pawn it off on a unsuspecting individual.

ya i was told i was getting a minty z6 trans before the one i just bought and it was a noisy ISB and grinded 2nd and 3rd occasionally. plus it was a dx tranny.

the one that i just bought from this place erics motors of japan is minty i just dont think its really a trans of an EX or SI like he told me it was. I asked is this off a SOHC Vtec and he said ya. But the car seems to have the same gearing as the old beat up trans i just cant take 2nd up to a lil past 60 mph any more. It redlines at like 57-58 mph. (stupid no tach)

Yes the A000/B000 stampings can save you a **** ton of headaches.

I've saved a number of locals from paying too much for non-Si trannies here in GA from simply looking at that code.
