Default GSR Motor Build Recommendations & Advice Needed

Hi guys, Im planning to build my motor in Dec. I have hear a list of things i want to do. I want to achieve about at least 200whp or more. This motor will be daily driven and used for road racing.

Recommendations & advice would be greatly appreciated.

96 USDM B18C1 w/ approx. 190k miles

Skunk 2 Pro 1 Cams
Skunk 2 Pro Cam Gears
Skunk 2 Valve Springs
Skunk 2 Retainers
RS Machines ITR Pistons
Hot Tank & Hone Block
Resurface Valves ?
Rage Tri-Y Header or AN-R Compact Header
AEM 3in Cold Air
Buddy Club Spec 2

Current Setup:

CTR Intake & Exhaust Cams
Skunk Intake Manifold
ITR Intake Arm
Comptech Intake
Comptech Street Header
Car Sound High Flow Cat
2.25 Crush Bent Piping
Comptech Exhaust or Straight Pipe
OEM CTR N1 Pulley

I made 163whp on dynojet w/ a broken exhaust and stock cat on my current setup.

Get rid of the cat. Is your itr pistons jdm or usdm??? You will need about 11.5. Unless you want 12.1 or higher comp. I would not recommend 12.1 for street car. Also chipped the ecu tune to 9000 rpm since you got valve vprings and retainers. Also is upgrade to shunk2 stage 2 cames.

I am going to double check the piston compression, i forgot which one was offered by RS Machines, but i believe i had gotten recommended jdm itr pistons from my friend. I will be losing the cat and replacing it with a Rage Tri-Y Header, AEM 3in ITR Cold Air, and Buddy Club Spec 2.

Is there a reason you recommended upgrading to s2 stage 2? How are they compared to the Pro 1's?

what skunk 2 cam should i be going with to hit the mark of 200+? Also yes, i will be tuning on Chrome Pro w/ you. As for Intake mani, using a Skunk 2 intake manifold. Which throttle body, injectors do you recommend?

For a road race car I would go with an LS crank to bump up the torque. The lightest piston that you are allowed to run with compression ~11.5:1. Have the head professionally ported. Toda C, Skunk Pro 1's, BC IV's or Skunk Stage 2's. Throttle body between 68-70mm. A ported ITR intake manifold, or perhaps the PerformerX. 310cc injectors, minimum. AEM ITR CAI. Toda, Hytech, or SMSP header and 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back, no cat.
The Hondata S300 for ease of switching between race gas and pump gas maps on the fly. At the very least have two chips burned for Crome so that you can switch to the race gas chip at the track.
Lots and lots of tuning!

I dont want to really get into the block, only reason im going into it is because my piston rings are gone, so i might as well change my pistons so i can get more power. So that is as far as im going with the block.

The pistons are USDM ITR from RSMachines.... how are those? Also how are S2 Stage 2 compared to Skunk 2 Pro 1's?

the ls crank would be a nice addition for sure ...as for the intake manifold the performerX is great for torque , as for the header well you know my opinion on that one and yes CROME with 2 seperate maps (one one 512 chip with a toggle switch to choses this desired one) i would say 370cc injectors

200 on a dyno jet is still hard to come by on a gsr. Whats done to the head? and what kind program are you running? don't "chip" anything just yet, buy a decent program that is "tuned" to your car. I hate it when people buy one of those "ebay skunk2, mugen, aem chip" and expect a hp gain. All those are junk and will, i repeat, will not help with anything but cut off your rev limiter. Get uberdata, or my favorite, hondata s200 or the s300. also you wouldn't want to go with the pro series yet, you'll lack low end and won't make up for the loss power. stick with the skunk 2 stage 2, more of a street cam. and even with any cam upgrade, you should do a head job. Lets give you an example, say, your new cams are a donkey. And your gsr head is your Girlfriend. why are you going to push for more then you can recieve? see the picture, get some head work done.

WTF are you talking about? Dialed in correctly, Pro Series cams kick *** down low, and with the right goodies, the top end can be pretty o.k. too.
