Default Header O2 Sensor question

Howdy,

I have a little question that I couldn't find the exact answer to through the search function.

I have a stock header on my b16 engine in my crx. The strange part about it, is that it seems to have 2 O2 Sensors hooked up right next to eachother.

I recently bought a used not bad in shape DC Sport header, and looking at this one, the only O2 screw on, is at the very bottom where it connects to the cataltytic converter, while my stock header has two 02 screw ons right above the bend in front of the block.

So basically I know I have to get a longer wire, but now that I've seen 2 sensors, I don't know how I should hook up the o2 sensor(s). Cut both wires and wind em up together and plug it into the 1 o2 sensor? Do I actually need them both?

And also, if I were to just install the new header in, would the car be running poorly without the o2 sensor hooked up temporarily( besides the ecu flashing code)?

Let me know whats up

My advice is, get the DC sports header and take to an exhaust shop and have them drill 2 bungs for both o2 sensors. This is they way honda had it and I think that seeing as they did design this motor...it should stay that way. As for wiring both sensors together and running it to the ecu..I have heard of people doing this..apparently it makes the car run slightly richer, i'm not sure. Anyways, do it the right way, have to bungs made in the dc header and run BOTH sensors, keep it clean and RIGHT.

Also, there is some method to Honda's madness. Each o2 monitors the A/F of each corresponding 2 cylinders (2 sensors for all the cylinders). This is where it might get tricky, I cant really tell you where to get the 2 bungs put at, ive never seen it done before. Hope this helps.

I agree 100% Definitely you need 2 O2 sensors near or as close to the same location as the stock manifold. You only need to add one extra wire for the second O2. Use the wire you already have for one of the sensors and just add one more wire and connect it to C-8 at the ECU for the second O2 sensor. If the engine seems to hesitate during cruising swap wires from C8 to C16 and viceversa.
Don't half *** it, you won't like the results.

Hmm I thought so. Well that sucks.

But basically both sensors in the stock header are plugged in already, they have wires connected to them, of course I couldn't follow it to the ecu, as it goes into that bundled heat prevention plastic wrap around thing into the firewall.

So basically the dc sport header already has an o2 sensor in it, thats not inculding the two I mentioned on the stock header. which equals 3 o2 sensors.

The one on the dc sport header is mounted at the very end close to the catalatyc converter as I mentioned before, the two that are in the stock exhast are mounted above the bend.

I suppose I can always take out the original one on the dc sport header and close itup somehow. and drill two new slots in the sport header for the stock header o2 sensors

The problem is that the dc sport header is 4-2-1 piping, my old one is 4-1 piping.

So do I dril holes for each of the 2 pipes where the 4 piping turns into 2 if that makes sense?

Thanks for the info, let me know whats up

yes, plug the one up near the cat. then weld two bung in. it is tough but if you look at the stock header you can tell what two runners each sesor reads. i can't remember off the top of my head and my car is a half hour away.
