Default Civic Hatch vs. Del Sol

I'm trying to buy a car.. and the two i'm looking at are:

93 Cx hatch
B20/Vtec w/some head work
Tuned on hondata making 208whp ...motor has under 100 miles on it.

or

94 del sol
stock gsr swap w/ 56k miles

i'll be fully building a turbo motor for it on the side.. so i'm planning on driving it until this winter..

Which car would be a better base for around a non-daily +/- 11 sec street car?

ps. i already had a turbo'd dx coupe

I like the hatch better look wise, but you would have to work backwards to get it ready for boost.

But the GS-R would be a better platform to start on for Boost.

Function over faction = del sol > Hatch

I say start fresh with something from the beginning and do all the work yourself. Buy a hatch, do an LS swap, and boost it on stock internals @ 10 psi which is good for 270 whp and plenty of room for building etc.

Ofcourse this is just my opinion

the cx is obviously a n/a monster and would probably be pretty quick by just getting some head work done, and a lsd.

if you're building a motor on the side this seems like a question between platforms, so i say pick whatever you like best.

Forget the Del Sol. Get the hatch and rip on it's NA motor 'till you get your other one built. I have a CX and I love the thing to death. Best cheap car ever.

EG hatches are butt ugly. Plus CX is really gay, and everything needs replaced with some **** from a EX coupe. Ask him what color his interior is...

I'd do the del Sol, they look better, and even the base delSol has all the power options, plus straight up GSR is much beter than some garbage franken motor. One B20VTEC could last for years, another could have sealing broblems, and just break down all the time. One could make 170WHP stock and run strong, another could make 120 WHP at the wheels. They are fickle motors, that Honda didn't engineer for a reason.

Plus the EG hatch, is one of things that only an enthusiast and owner could love. I was a kid when they came out, and I thought they were **** *** ugly, and judging by sales VS coupes of those years, the public thought so as well. Its only after all this EG6 **** surfaced that anyone even wanted one.

Basing my opinion soley on the body (not the motor), i'd say the hatch.

But I'd go with del sol, like Doostur said, you won't have ot work backwards with the del sol.

Good luck hauling anything in the del sol, although comfort wise the del sol seat are buttery. If you snowboard or anything, without some kind of gay *** roof rack, it wont be fun. Cx hatches are great for lightness no need for any ex bullshit. If you want power comforts(locks windows whatever) get something else.

X2 although debating the looks of the hatch vs. del sol will go in circles. It's a matter of what you think looks good. I agree with you on the ac aspcect of it though./

honda didnt intend on people boosting their engines either. but those turn out just fine and can last a long time. as with anything, the build, tune, and maintenance are key.

truer words haven't been spoken

i'd go with the del sol IMHO i've always liked them and a bone stock GSR seems like a better starting point then a car someone already built....how good is the person's integrity that's selling the hatch?

del sol

the hatch is legit. its my boy who owns a shop. the car was an ls/vtec turbo car for 2 solid years..

the guy who tuned it.. awesome at making good power and reliability.

im more biased on the sol because i like the looks of the del sol more

since your building a motor on the side, this would just be a beauty contest.

the b20vtec seem to be built very well and well maintained but the compression is too high for you to boost as it is, so your gonna have to build it for boost if you do go that way

the gsr stock is more safe to boost and it is untampered

go with whichever you desire

the sol gets my vote still
