You have an 05. Take it back to the dealer and they'll fix it.

What modifications were done? Try fixing those and take to another dealer.

And who did you buy the car from? If a dealer, take it back to that place and tell them. You could threaten to sue a dealer if you got into an accident and the SRS system was not working.

my srs light when on and i modified my motor and took it to the dealership near my place cause the dealership i bought it from is in another state and they said its covered because its a safety issue ... if they say they wont cover it tell them it write down the reasons why they wont cover it, why the modifications effected the srs, and then take it to a lawyer ... if they dont have it in writing then they cant deny you the warranty ... good luck

i understand you. i bought the car from a private owner. even though my warranty is void, not sure they will still want to fix my srs. mods i have are sri, dcrh and tein s. tech spring only. i'm going to try to go there and tell them its a safety issue. i just don't understand after that hard dip hit it came on..concerns me. thanks for the advice

Those mods have nothing to do with the SRS. Unless the previous owner physically modified any part of the SRS system, the dealer cannot deny you warranty on it--especially for a safety item.

its called the OPDS unit, i guess lot of them were defective. They said they extended the warranty on it to like 150k miles. he wasnt too sure the exact mileage for the extended warranty, but he said its extended a large amount because its a safety issue. Its either the unit or the sensor. they'll fix, i had to wait like 2 days for the part and like 2 hours for install. FP NUMBER: 81161-S6M-A01

nice to know that bro. mine could be the same problem. did they charge you for the airbag repair for the OPDS unit? My warranty is void, if you can do me a favor and ask them do they repair srs on safety issue. I tried calling the acura deal and some lady kept transfering me to another department where they can help me but are not answering their damn phone.

btw did you find out what's OPDS stands for. thanks

Again I'll ask--why is your warranty void? What specifically was modified in/on the SRS?

car has been hit on the driver side door to front fender. considered salvaged. i stopped by the acura dealer today, they want $120 for just diagnostic. I know i'm doomed because of the warranty. Plan B, what now? leave it?

btw where is that OPDS actually located at? maybe i can buy one and do it myself.

You should have said that originally--big detail that's been left out. Folks might be able to help now.

you know you can get your title changed to something else by going to a different state, i forgot what it is.. like antique or something around that. It'll have a new title but it will be mentioned on there that the original title is salvaged but you will have a different title instead of the salvage title.

The OPDS(Occupant Position Detection System) sensors are located in the pass seat next to the side airbag on the seat. The OPDS control unit is located in the pass seat also but on the left shoulder side. Another problem could be the pretensioners on the seatbelts are malfunctioning.... Tell them that it is a saftey issue and they should take a look at it.....

i asked them, they want $120 diagnostic fee before they look at it. I'll try looking around those spot you mention where the OPDS sensor and unit are located. Maybe some lose wire..i hope so. thanks

There's instructions on how to reset your SRS light. I just did it today, worked for me when I put on my ITR wheel. Hope this helps you out some. Good Luck!
