Default EP3 info?

I'm interested in buying an EP3, actually i'm close to buying one. I just looking for some info. on the disadvantages in the car such as maintenance issues; or anything that will indicate to me this is a bad idea. There are only maybe two where i'm from and i have never seen one in reality but it looks good in the pics you guys have; and is it a very long car or is it about the same length as the EK3 hatch? Also are there any that come with a 6-speed gearbox?

Thanx.

I just recently bought an EP3. It had about 37,000 miles on it. Despite everyone telling me there were faster cars for the money (used SRT-4, etc) and that it was a dog I bought it because it was a Honda. I have loved Hondas for a long time and really liked their reliability. It was fast enough for me after switching from my EF hatch. I have never regretted buy my car so far. It isn't fast but it is quick. I scoots from a roll and if you got traction it can scoot from a stop too. The tranny is really short... I can be crusing at about 35 MPH in 5th at about 2K I think? It is a fun car, it is great looking, not super long and still easy to drive with good visibility. After driving an EF hatch (a green house) I am not every at a loss of visibility or anything. Basically I would recommend it. They are nice, awesome interior, great seats, (I get lots of compliments), good stock stereo (none of that BOSE crap), it is hatchback which serves a ton of purpose, and they aren't EVERYWHERE like the RSX. Go for it, you won't regret it.

Well said. The tranny isnt horrible though. Actually people who boost their cars prefer our tranny's for their longer gearing and strength. Put a little drop on it and some decent wheels and its a sharp little car.

clutch pedal squeals, nothing mechanical. Change tranny fluid every 15-30K mile, Honda recommends 100K change don't listen to that. Don't waste money on I/H/E (my opinion) get K-pro first, tuning your oen car is funner than installing that crap. Oh yea replacement fender cost $333, I know. Luckily I found one on Ebay 180 shipped(it took 3 month search). When drop you get steering creak. I don't care tho. EP's are NASTY.

Other than that I love MARY( EP's name ).

bought at 53k in 2005
now 122K 2007

no six speed you gotta get RSX 6 speed.

there isnt any 6spd gear box for the ep3 in the states, best you can do, if you want one, is get the CTR 6spd tranny. i like the ep3 as well but you wont get the same type of power as you will out of a type-s

Lol! That's my name! Everyone says stock EP3's look ugly which is true but I didn't feel that way when I got mine. I bought mine as a daily and so far I have no complaints at all. I guess it depends what plans you have for the future.

more than likely the dc5s will cost more than a ep3
yes the dc5s will have a more power in stock form
however, the price difference that you save getting a ep3 you can spend on modifications that can surpass the dc5s' power
all in all, depends what you want

yes stock, but the ep3 comes with what staright out the box 160whp, qouted from honda, so actually like 140whp, the rsx-s has 200whp qouted from honda, actually 170-180whp. i'd rather spend the xtra 2g straight from start rather than spending 2g, probably more getting the ep3 up to the stock whp of an rsx-s. i mean its all prefrence but i'd rather spend it up front.

I like EP3s as much as you do, but I haven't seen a 500+ whp K20A3 yet.

He's probably talking about getting power from the original engine on both cars and if you do so, there's no chance, everybody knows that.

I would have to agree that once lowered you get the steering creak... I hate it. It is only at low speeds but oh well. There is always some little sacrafice. I love my car and I would prefer the 5 spd over a 6 spd. I have driven type s RSX's before... You spend so much time shifting because of the short gearing... I like the little extra gearing even if it doesn't mean that there is a little extra time at the lower RPMs.
