I used to drive a red car. The color gets old quickly and I tend to hate them now. But for some reason, milano red kicks major ***. It's deep yet bright

Weird looking turn signals on the last pic (CW ITR). Looks like there is a line going through them or something... maybe I've never noticed it before or something.

The first red ITR has CF hood, stock wheels painted in black, custom CF wheel logo.

I don't know much about racing, so I am asking a newbie question. Why do cars that race on a track have tape on their headlights?
What is the purpose for the tape? Is it because if a rock/projectile was to hit the lens and shatter the lens, then glass might be left on the track, which would be a hazard to others that are driving? And is it mandatory to have the side windows rolled down when racing? The reason that I ask this is becasue when I see track videos, I can always hear the rush of the wind into the cabin. Sorry for such newbie questions.
