Buying a EG4 with B18C4 block and head with b20 crank. Opinions?
Hiya guys, I've tried this on other forums - just thought I'd give it a try on here as well before I buy.
I'm (hopefully) going to buy a JDM EG4 tomorrow. I've already been to look at the car last monday and it seems spot on! My honda knowledge is a little limited so I've been putting the engine setup around to see what people think before I buy.
The engines a B18C4, both block and head (UKDM - very similar to your B18C afaik. 169Hp stock). It has the usual bolt ons - filter and skunk2 mega power. Also has ITR cams, oil pump, water pump flywheel and clutch. Chrome Pro mapped with wideband. B16A2 pistons, B20 crank (1834cc + higher compression because of the slightly longer stroke). The guy whos selling the car claims it'll make at least 200Bhp and good torque because of the extra displacement.
The UK guys over here seemed unsure about this motor because they'd not had any kind of experience with the crank and block/head combination. I know you guys are much more experimental and experienced so I'm sure you lot will have much more to say
Cheers
By the way, I plan on getting this dyno tunned shortly after I buy it just take be sure that everything is in order and I'm eager for a power run

Oh, I forgot to mention. Does anyone know the compression ratio that this combination would make? or how to work it out? The guy selling the car seemed a little unsure but said it was something like 11.6:1
