I have a few qustions I had a lsvtec built already. Stock block, stock gsr head.
My question was can I use a gsr headgasket and only use one layer of the headgasket. Im reading all types of threads saying about the valve to piston clearence but then I see that its got a 9:7 cp ratio. I just wanted to bump up the compression on it. So do I use the HG complete or will it be ok to use one layer.

Heres my lsvtec setup. (this engine is just temp till I get my gsr built)

ITR cams
skunk2 cam gears
skunk2 intake manifold
itr aem intake
apexi wsII catback
kenji p28
apexi vafc
ported throttle body.

 

you have to use a ls head gasket, and with stock ls piston, you don't have to worry about valve-piston clearance. And your compression won't be high, since your block is still stock.
