Default changing bov sound on a dsm bov........

just wanted to try a diy project, to change up the tone/noise a little. curious if anyone has ever tried this. i thought about trying to make an hks insert fit somehow, but i don't feel like paying $25 for it, especially if it doesn't fit. i'm trying to think of someway to make my own ring/insert for it....
thoughts/ideas?
thanx.

take a piece of "flash" and roll it up and put some pop rivits in it to hold its shape..

flash is thin metal they use on houses, it can be found at hardware stores.

that might be to soft though. you know on roof tops they almost bend with the wind when it gets hot.

how about you just mount like a small flat piecec of metal across th opening , then when air rushes out it'll make a hissing sound as it goes around it.

I just recently tuned a car that had a stock 1g valve on it. We went out and I was surprised by the non-characterstic DSM bov sound. When we got back I looked at it and it had holes drilled in the outlet around diameter. It sounded highly similar to my Greddy TypeS.

how big were these holes, and about how many were there? evenly spaced around it, or what? i'd prefer this, over attaching something. did you by any chance get a pic. thanx for this insight. i think i'll try this.

My cousin use to have a dsm bov and drill a few holes around the bov. Look like a greddy type s mated with a cheap ebay bov. Sound pretty sweet, but it was long time ago.

Look at the Greddy Type RS tip...it's about 6 holes or so and they do have some angle if I recall. The dudes I saw didn't have any angle, but if I were you I'd just see about replicating the Type RS tip as closely as possible.

If my damn DelSol will stop causing me heartache (bad ignitor has me sittin) I'll see you at the Maplegrove meet in three weeks.

Check the post in the regional meet section right near that maplegrove meet thread....it's the Pittsburgh meet at Robinson thread. Page 3....that's my black turbo'd delsol at that meet. If you see me there, say what's up.

i did something similar with some soft rubber pieces i got off some hydraulics fittings. the thread protector pieces off of big JIC fittings, i found one that fit, and cut an X pattern into the end of it.
was funny for a while until it blew off the end.
