OT: Integra with Alpine Deck Installation.
Not much response in the audio forum, so I'm posting here.
Has anyone installed an Alpine Cd Player Deck into their DC Integra?
Does the fit perfectly inside when you take out the stock deck?
Does the tray below the deck still stay there?
Pics would help me out. thanks

I have an alpine deck on my g3 , I had it installed professionally because it was an entire system and I don't have the time to do it. Anyway you will probably need a mounting bracket which is like 10 dollars.

i have an alpine....you'll need a mounting kit for it. the mounting kit should come with the tray for underneath and all that.....might also need to buy a wiring harness too. I picked up my stuff to install it at Circuit City....Best Buy should have them as well and most should have em in stock cause a G3 Integra is a pretty common car for them to install head units into.
I have an Alpine CD deck in my Integra, and I don't have the mounting bracket. The pocket in the mounting bracket looks ugly. I made my own mounting bracket and reuse the factory pocket underneath the radio. I don't have pic of it, but I can take some pics when I get home and post them up if anyone's interested.
edited 6/19/02, here's the pic (please excuse the blur, I took it at night, and the camera won't focus).

I have had 3 different alpine decks in my teg. All that I do is turn the black little tray upside down and shuv it in there below the deck. There are like little notches on the black pocket that stick out and usually are used to screw into the stock stereo, but that is what holds it in place. I have never had a problem with that. Or you can even stick the pocket on top.
I too have an Alpine deck in my car. Same as everyone else, I bought a mounting deck (ugly as hell) to keep it in place. Anyone know where I can find a nice looking mounting deck that has a tray? Mine is just a flat PoS. Thanks!

Just go to Circuit City or ABC warehouse...ask for an installation kit, and you can look to see if it has the tray before you buy it....It will probably run like $15...A second thing you will probably need is a wire harness, and just tell them you are installing a deck into an Integra, they should know which harness to get.
Now does anyone have pics of the mounting deck installed with a picture during the day?
vwong: If you could snap some pics, that would be awesome.
Thanks

i've had several alpine decks.. I keep using the same install kit/mounting kit.. I like the sound and don't think they look bad.. I don't really like those decks that have too much stuff on the display and lots of small buttons... Alpine

I have a 94 Integra, also have a Alpine CD player. You can get the stereo kit from Goodguys for Best Buy for like $15. The harness, you can get there to for the same price or go to Walmart, it's $7 there (same brand as GoodGuys but just different box for adveritising).
Go to http://www.team-integra.net they have step by step instructions on removing and installing a HU for the 94+Integra.

this mount kit that i have right now looks fugly. my main concern is the ease of removing the headunit...it's too damn easy for theives to take off with it.
if any of you have, i'd appreciate it if you could tell me how you guys securely mounted it...
and has anybody successfully mounted the HU using the stock din pocket?
tia
Mine is in the lower din pocket. I have the cd tray on top since I am sure the face would destroy itself when opening in the top position. I will take pics this weekend.
just tell me how to upload pics so I can show you and I'll be happy to take pics of mine tomorrow morning
nice headunit, i was thinkin about replacing mine with that. did you bolt it down anywhere?? i thought about putting my HU in the lower din, but i still dont see any place where it directly bolts up... did you fabricate a mount? thanks

The cd tray is simply flipped upside down in ghetto fabulous fashion
You can always just get a double-din radio. That way, you don't have to worry about crappy mounting kits or ghetto-rigging it with the factory pocket. I've had a Clarion double-din in my 'teg for a while now (i'll get some pics at some point) and it is BEAUTIFUL! Also, whoever suggested to buy a kit at Wal-Mart needs to be shot (i'm too lazy to go looking for who it was). Thier kits SUCK *****!! I install stereos for a living and will tell you right now that there IS NOT a good looking kit for the Integra. They are ALL flat, cheap-looking, pieces of plastic. And they are all INCREDIBLY easy to remove the radio from. If you want a good-looking, secure mounted steroe in your car, it needs to be custom. Sorry. But there is just NO kit for the 'teg that looks good.
