The recent revival of the cam test has got me thinking a little. The Super R currently has the ability to run 14.0's (which it has done on two occasions) with only AEM CAI, no PS, and running open header. I dyno'd the car with the cat hooked up and got a pathetic 159whp. I later found out that my cat was clogged and replaced it with a test pipe so I'm sure my numbers would have been alot higher but still. So this is what I've been pondering.

Ken's open header/test pipe valve thingy
Jun 2 intake Cam
VAFC, fuel pressure reg, cam gears, and fuel pressure guage.
Total of about $1,500

Am I stupid to think that this would easily get me deep into the 13's (13.5-13.8 range) since I'm on the verge of 13's as is? Since I'm really into the auto-x thing now I was pleased to see the surprising mid range of the Jun 2 intake that would definitely help on low speed courses. Any thoughts on the matter?

 

Forget the cam and get drag radials or slicks and you will be in the 13's.

 

Yeah I know I could do that, but I'm not really a drag guy. I just want mid 13sec power on tap at all times.

Me: "I don't see it"
Tech: "I'm pointing to it"
Me: "Must be bad lighting my eyes aren't picking it up. You sure?"

Me: "So I'm guessing that your not going to..."
Tech: "No"
Me: "Alrighty"

That and the fact that I don't have much cash.

Cams won't void it? Yeah right.

thats a funny scenario . . . . actually all mods wont void it .
i have taken my car in and got a new tranny with a boatload of mods , my frined was juicen his and blew the motor cuz he's a dumb *** they gave him a brand new one on the house.
it all depends on the dealer and what is wrong and the mods that are done . .
i could see my self pulling that turbo thing though. . . screw dealers anyway i havent had my car to the dealer since the tranny thing , and that was the only time . just cuz i knew i would get a new one out of it . i do everything else myself.

 

Yeah but with cams I can be sneaky. Oh and hurry up with your little invention. I have couple of Washingtons with your name on it if it works.

 

Im thinking about an importbuilders modded jg edelbrock header. they give hella powa and cost 550.
