Default wut did i bend/break?

I was driving a few nights ago and i went straight over one of those sewer metal dish things but it was about 7 inches higher then the ground next to it. I hit it dead on really hard. I thought i broke my oil panel for sure but it was fine. I just flattened my headers a bit more. I get back in the car start to drive off i notice my steering wheel is very hard to turn and it stays wherever you turn it and doesnt come back to straighten itself. In other words steering just stays wherever it is unless I turn it and its very hard to turn. Also my steering wheel makes it look like im turning to the right but im not. Its not pointing straight when im going straight but rather to the right. What did I bend or break?

Go get an alignment. That should help in fixing the problem...

try looking over any steering part like rack and pinon and see if anything broke..i doubt it but check just in case. I did almost the same thing a while ago in my dads van...my friend and i went to "take a jump" which was just a big dip at the end of a downhill road. Well the bottom scraped really really hard but the oil pan was still there. There is now a bump on the tranny pan, some fins broke off of the tranny, and when you shift into drive or reverse theres a LOUD clicking/knocking noise. From this experience, i learned that leather belts with big buckles hurt!!

You'll have to get under it and look. Sounds like you bent something pretty bad.

I know its not my alignment. When the car is on a jack the steering is still hard. So I must have bent something. I cant tell what is bent by looking. Does anyone have any idea what is bent? Im guessing something on my steering but have no clue what.

you may have damaged your rack and pinion. that could be the only thing that i could think of that would make it steer hard

Not only does it steer hard but it also stays wherever I turn it. It like gets stuck and stays. Also my steering wheel points to the right when im going straight. So its the rack and pinion?

File a report with the city also. They MIGHT cover it, unless there was a cone, sign, or you were driving too fast to notice. I would do that first to see what they can do for you...
