some questions about clutch
The main difference is the engagement time and/or lag when shifting gears. 4 puck clutche will engage the "hardest" and the fastest, 6-puck engages pretty fast while full faced gives smoother engagement, but takes the longest. Again I use the term "longest" relatively because we're talking fractions of a second in difference in engagement time, but every fraction of a second counts on the track. Also the faster the clutch engages the more stress will be put on the drivetrain, so you might want to consider upgrading components on that too. Most people obviously prefer full faced disks for their DD's. 6 and 4 puck is doable, but you have to relearn how to drive somewhat. Plenty of people do use 6 puck on the street. I would say if you just a weekend warrior, and the car will be a DD go with the full faced disk.
There isn't a whole lot of difference. The MAJOR difference is between sprung and unsprung clutches. Trust me. $1000 for a exedy hyper single unsprung that is almost impossible to drive in the street is a bad mistake. Make sure (if you want a streetable car) to get the sprung disc.
thanks 94vtecluder. that clear up another misunderstanding. i was told that a 4 puck is easier to drive than a 6 puck. i guess he didn't know what he was talking about.
