Average cost to mount/balance tires?
I'm picking up a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT this morning, but I'm considering having them installed at a different place than I'm purchasing them. The Kawisaki shop up here has pretty good prices on parts and gear, but their labor rate is a little steep.
$45 for mount/balance with wheels off the bike
$90 for mount/balance with wheels ON the bike
Sound a little pricey? Tell me what you guys have paid recently for tire installation.
TIA

Pull the rims off yourself its easy if you have stands.
Usually its about an hours labor charge plus the tires to mount / balance.
(I get all my tires mounted and balanced free...sponsorship y0)

Take the wheels off yourself. I always thought stealerships gave you a discount to mount the tires if you bought the tires from them? I'd call around, some smaller bike shops will probably do it for around $25. I learned my lesson the hard way to avoid dealers at all times.

It's better to do it yourself so you actually learn how to work on the bike as well as learning how to asjust the chain, etc. If you're even mechanically inclined, you can mount the tires on a car tire mounting machine and just have it balanced.

O BTW, I believe to take the front wheel off there is a special allen big key that you need.
For Suzuki it is 24mm
Motion Pro makes a 4 in 1 size for this job
It is about 29.99

Well I have a rear stand, but no front...and no garage to rig up a hanging system from the rafters
Next time I'll take them off myself, but I'm in a time crunch with UCSB starting tomorrow, plus work, plus the track day fast approaching.
