electrical problem..anybody help?
3 weeks ago I found a guy who was selling a 90' si crx for $800. It had a dohc non vtec motor in it and ran well, so of course I bought it. This is crx #4 for me but iv never had electrical problems with any of them. Electrical is not my strong point at all. The guy had a push button start and toggle switch hard wired in because it was a junk yard car with no turn key start in it. I replaced one of th eyes connecting to the button because the first one fell off. When running it under the dash, it struck an arc and blew one of the 50amp fuses in the fuse box on the wheel well in the engine bay. I replaced that and it was running fine. The other day I was driving to work and it just decided to die on me. I got the car home and the battery had been sucked dry of all its juice. I replaced the battery and had the alternator checked, it was good. I tried driving it again and i got maybe 3 miles down the road and it died again. I am assuming that the alternator is not sending the power back to the battery because when running in my driveway, I can turn the lights on and it will die again. Anyone have any ideas?
Sorry this post is so long but I wanted to explain in detail what is going on in case anyone has an answer
