No sound from radio
I just bought my Accord the other day.. it is a 2000 honda. when i bought it i had to get the radio code by calling Honda and i put it in today and the radio cut on but there is no sound coming out. I pulled the radio and checked the harness and everything looks good and i checked wiring to speakers and it all looks good but still no sound. What could be the problem and how would i fix it? thanks in advance for any input
does the headunit turn on? or does it just say code? and are you sure you put the code in right.
also, you may get better help in the audio/video/alarm section.

yea, code is put in correct. all radio functions work properly, i just can't hear anything. nothing is coming out of the speakers. i will go post at the audio section, thanks
not to sound like a smarta$$ but check to see if you have any speakers in your car. it looks like someone had an aftermarket radio in there previously, that's why you needed the radio code. easy way to check is look in your trunk and look at the bottom of your rear deck, should be two speakers on the rear deck.
make sure the head unit is actually on, if it still says code then it is off. You hear any high pitched noises if you turn the gain all the way up or nothing at all? Also maybe your speakers are busted, check em!
yes i already checked to see if there are speakers.. im not a complete idiot when it comes to cars, i've never had a honda before, but i know what im doin to an extent.. it has aftermarket Boston speakers in it. they look good, everything looks good, radio is on, i put the code in the other day and all functions seem to work on the radio like volume control tuning on the radio, cd playing, etc. i just can't hear any sound.. if the speakers were busted wouldn't i at least hear some static or somthing?

I'm a total n00b when it comes to the interior parts of radios, but is it possible there is a fuse for the internal amp that has blown out?

that's possible.. i didn't really think abt that when i pulled the radio.. but idk if stock radio's have internal fuses? i know the aftermarket radio in my old truck had one.. anybody know?
so i decided to just buy a new radio and i put it in and everything works perfect now. i have no idea why the radio would not put any noise out while all other functions work

most all radios whether aftermarket or OEM have fuses located where the power supply comes in, this helps to protect the more expensive circuitry from getting destroyed in the case of a power surge, or overpowering of the stereo. If the fuse was blown the radio wouldn't even be on, so I'm sure you fuse was good. Most fuses are 10 or 15 amp. Hence your ~50Wx4=200W 200W/12V~ 16A, and you will never get the full 50 watts from each channel
