Default Buying a new TL Type-S...

I went and test drove it today and loved the way it rode. Considering it'll be a daily driver, I'm not looking for anything too crazy fast. I was pleased with the pep it had and how well it handled. I have the Z06 for when I want to play.

Anyone have real gas mileage reports or 1/4 mile times for it? I'd like to know how it compares against other cars in it's class (IS350, S4, 3 series).

Any common mechanical problems with the TL or RL? Any companies offering basic aftermarket modifications for it yet? Intake, exhaust, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for that link! Very interesting. I haven't noticed the noise but I haven't really listened for it.

I love the car so far.

Yo iam a hondaman by birth and belive me on get the TL type s with 6-speed tranny.
The auto will expletive u up in the long wrong just like every TL from 1998-and Up.

But if you want your moneys worth
check out the M35 or 45 from infinite
or the bmw coupe or 325 they are GOOD cars Trust me, I work on them everyday and the only problem i had was a oil leak from a faulty oil drain bolt. and maybe a dirty air filter.
but YO money talks.
You already have a Z06. them ***** are fast as expletive even in automatic ( I rented 1 for a month for $28 a day ) . just do you and have fun. ALSO wear your seat belt

yeah I am sure you just love it when you are constantly in the throttle like that and are wondering why your car gets 15mpg city........

lol at the wake up part........lol well all I gotta say is DUHHH, the secondaries don't eevn open up until well above 4K and vtec does not kick in until you are well up into the rpms.....do you honestly think that getting the 6spd will make the engine "wake up" any sooner......lol Honda egines are known for easy around town driving and high rpm power.....

TL are not meant to be racers, they are meant to be comfy slightly sporty daily drivers with enough power on tap to use if needed.

I currently have a 2007 TL-S 6 speed. For the money, it's one of the best cars out there. When I was shopping around, there were a few things that were important to me:
Was a manual available?
HID headlights
Navigation system
roomy backseat (I have 3 kids)
A trunk that could hold more than an overnight bag.
Bluetooth handsfree
XM or Sirius radio
Heated / AC seats (although the TL does not have a/c seats)

There were a few cars that had everything listed there, the Infiniti M35 being one of them. After adding everything the M35 was $47k. The BMW 3 seires also was close, but the backseat is TIGHT. The backseat in the Lexus IS is almost a joke.

To also answer your question, I've averaged 24mpg in my car. I also enjoy stepping on it just about everytime I am in the car.

Overall, I am very happy with my TL-S. There are a few things I do not like about the car but not many. I highly recommend one.
