best oil for my f22 manual tranny?
Ok so the dealer ship uses basically oil with some additives in there.
But engine oil doesnt break down that fast in a trannsmission any ways.
Ok so here are my choices.
Royal Purple, with or without a lil lucas oil additive.
GM syncromesh (dont know if I should use all of it or just half)
Honda's MTF
any other opininions out there.
The tranny works fine, just want to do a flush.
So whats the best stuff to use or whats the best mixture of oils to use?

I've been on syntec for years now.
What are you asking for tranny fluid or motor oil?

Well I would say GM syncromesh, but honda MTF would be fine, I've just fell into the habbit, that if your going to do it, do it the best you can! GM syncromesh is the best for a good operating tranny, and just as good for a tranny that has a grind.

Regarding manual transmission fluid changes, I had a few questions ('99 LX 4-cylinder)
a. How much manual transmission fluid do I need?
b. Does the change need to be done on a flat surface, or is having the front up on ramps OK?
c. What type of funnel or tube do you use to get oil into the top bolt hole? Does a transmission funnel fit into it?

I have run both Honda MTF and synthetic 10-30 oil. I noticed no difference between the two (my shop manual says regular 10-30 oil).
I do KNOW synthetic will last longer than "regular" oil in a tranney- builds up acids slower, important because tranney oil stays in much longer than engine oil.
I am very picky about my engine oil (10-30 synthetic), but I can't really see spending the $$$ for the Honda MTF, I really saw zero difference, except for the $$$.
I do dump the oil and change it once a year, not very expensive and very easy to do. Do this and don't abuse the clutch/tranney and it will run forever. Wrenchy
