Default Any Fightered F2 owners?

I got my F2 from a friend dirt cheap after he laid it down. The body panels were DONE. Every last one of them. So, I went the fighter route, while leaving the tail fairings in place.
So, here's the real question. If I'm cruising at anything from 65+, OR if I'm riding in the wind, it feels like it's leaning out. It's just while cruising. As soon as I open it up, she pulls fine. I finally nailed this down as being the cause after riding in a gusty wind. Every time it blew, I could hear it lean out and it lost power. Wind stopped, got my power back.
So, any suggestions on what to do? I've had the bike down to the bare frame (to inspect it, etc after the crash), so I'm familiar with how it's setup. Place a piece of sheet metal curved in front of the intake box tubes?

What I know about the bike... Two Bros full exhaust, header on back. K&N. Other than that, it's stock. Now, below 65, or on a still day, I have NO issues with it. Obviously it's carbed. But has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

On naked Hurricanes (F1s) most cut the snorkels on the airbox down so that the bike uses the ambient air below the tank. If you don't do that, when at speed the turbulance (that fairings would have typically stopped) causes a vacuum where your snorkels originally pull air from.

I was thinking the opposite, that it would actually be creating a ram air effect... I'll have to take a look.

I don't think that will fix it. Again, this is only in the wind, or above 65. FI bikes don't deal with these issues. Lucky bastards!

if u have full exhaust, k+n and riding with an open air box u need to get the bike jetted, trust me.

Ram air does seem more likely than a vacuum, the vacuum argument is just what I've heard most recently. Try blocking up the snorkel(s) a little, with some tape. If that fixes it then you know that's the problem, and can work out a perminate solution.

I'm sure jetting will only help performance, also.

When the wind blows, it's adding more air to the intake correct? So when your cruising, it's giving set amount of fuel, then the wind blows adding more air then needed for the fuel being put in by the carbs, leading to a lean situation. When you open the throttle more, it's dumps more fuel into the mix so your good. But I'm not a physicist or anything, I just think thats what happens.

I own an f2/f3, and I've delt with some carb issues. Basically whenever you open up the intake and exhaust, you are leaning the bike out with stock jetting. So, install the proper jets for your altitude and mods. You may still feel the effects of winds causing a lean condition, but they will certainly be less severe.

Thanks for the info guys. It's been raining like crazy the last few days, so I haven't gotten to play with it. I'll let you know what I find.
