It depends on what you're looking for a b16 would cost more to get a lot of power out of and it won't make as much torque. The b20 vtec will make more torque and make more power for cheaper. But if you go with b20 try not to go over 220wph all motor because those blocks tend not to like that. Also if you want a dd itb's probably aren't the best option to go with. They are also really picky and hard to tune

I would go with the b20 vtec then because a b16 would cost a fair amount of money to get in the 12's. 200whp and a LSD will get you in the 12's with slicks and a b16 cost a lot of money to get to 200whp. So I would say go with the b20vtec

how many have failed under your engine building/tuning to say that?

go with a b16, with the b20 vtec, there are too many issues. You have to ask yourself if you want power or to build a reliable car. On my ls vtec, i'm at 194/146, and it runs good, but hybrid motors tend to "BLOW" sooner or later. haha

Agreed.

I'd turbo that del sol man. It's simplier since you have OBD1 and since you have a DEL SOL. Do it with hondata. Even if you make 220whp, you'll still be making a bit more than MOST k-series swaps and the torque will be badass. If I had your car, I would strongly consider it. I mean, it's like I said before, "you have OBD1 and a DEL SOL." Just try to keep a/c if you go the turbo route.

I hope this helps.

built urself a nice b10/vtec and ull be above your hp goals. b20/vtec in my opinion will yeild u the best power at a more affordable price as opposed to the b16.

i have seen built bottom ends (b20) with a stock b16 head put down over 200whp and a hell of alot more torque than a b16.

u drive torque, people buy horsepower.

Go with the H Deuce Deuce baby, stock 170 at wheels get some decent cams, intake, exhaust. tune that baby up and ur at 12's with slicks and mid to high 13's without em.

first off, motors don't tend to blow. We, as "drivers" abuse and force engines to blow. any hybrid isn't design to have a life expectancy. With the factory b16, it was build to survive. ls-v and cr-v are an easy motor to build, but have a tendancy to break "easier".

drivers have a lot less to do about engines blowing that you think, unless the driver is a moron and likes to "shift" from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th gear at 11k rpms.

good engine building and good tuning wil go long ways into life expectancy of an engine. A good block will last more than a POS block, dont matter how much money you throw at anything, foundations are the key and in our areas are the blocks seeing everything is attached to it.

if you blow your engine its no one elses fault but yours. Its your engine so the sum of your mistakes are the one that says how much it will last. OH and dont come and say it was the engine builders fault, you took it to him so again your fault. Sometimes not even the best engine builders can help you with a POS engine... a POS is a POS even if you put cream on it

even after all this sometimes, well **** happens... not much can be done there
