clutch parts need help
I have a 91 Honda Prelude si 2.1 5 speed. I can figure this out at all. The car starts runs fine. You touch the clutch toward 1 st or 2 nd it kills it. Even though you can do reverse 3 4 or 5th. Anyone ever dealt with such a thing?

Either that or less clutch, they both work for me...
EDIT: sorry, I'm thinking vacuum lines. What does it idle at?

Yes I have give it alittle more gas . The car runs fine till you touch the stick over toward 1 st or 2nd . If you watch were the clutch pedal goes in under the hood it lifts up when you go to 1 st or 2nd not the other gear thats what kills it. What is the part that the clutch pedal is attach to under the hood. ???
The clutch pedal is attached to the back of the clutch master cylinder and then that has a hydraulic line that goes over to the transmission...(as far as I know 3rd gens have hydro trannies).
It's hard to understand what you're saying about 'where the clutch pedal goes in under the hood'...

ok yes I am a women so I speak another language haha
When you look under the hood the rod that move when you push down the clutch peddle. Right there when you put the car in 1 or 2 you can see this other piece move but it doesnt when you put it in all other gears. That the best way I know how to explain it. Sorry I am not that knowledgable but neither is my mechanic.

Im tring to understand this, so if you press the clutch in without driving but with the car started, the car dies when you put it in to first and sec gear but not the rest? is that right?

Yes thats right. I have explained this to a good friend whom owns a trans shop in Hendersonville he has no clue except wiring crossed check it and all ok there. It;s driving my nuts can't drive the car.
without seeing the car, I would say that you must have a loose connector or a wire shorting out. I would check all the connections near the transmission where the transmission cables connect to see if they are pushing wires or causing something to ground out.
There shouldnt be any wires near the in car shifter that would cause such a problem, but if you dont fins anything in the engine bay, I would pull the plastic off around the gear shifter and check there as well.
