Default Gasket Sealant

Finally I get some time to myself. I will be putting on my headers and High Flow cat, and later my new muffler and custom pipes will go on. But now to the question. I have gasket sealer that is called Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker. Can that be used when Appling the gaskets for headers to down pipe, down pipe to high flow cat?

no you cannot, you need the metal o-ring crush gaskets, factory ones might fit. not sure on that. they are only a couple of bucks from honda

i have done it before with no problems, your talking the where the 2 halfs of the header bolt together right? is it the orange stuff, says copper on it? on my 360 dodge i could never get the headers to seal and a racing friend of mine told me to use the silicon with no gaskets worked great, just put good bead on and let it set till it forms a crust, then bolt together till it starts to squish. i have only done this twice on a honda though. cause we didnt have the right gaskets and was to be a temp fix. but they are still rolln that way no leaks.

Really, well I do have the metal gaskets, but isnt there another type of sealant that you are supposed to put on the gasket rings to keep them from sliding all over the place?

oh well if you have the gaskets just put em in dry they'll be fine, other wise just put a dab on to hold in place. but should be fine with no sealant.
