so anyone know what i should torque my oil pan gasket at? got a 98 civic dx d16y7. send me a link or anything thanks

 

I think that the torque on the oil pan is the same for the d series as it is for the B. If that is the case, I know that the B series oil pan is torqued to 9 ft lbs.

Seems like it wouldn't be enough, but that's what I've read out of a Del Sol Mechanics manual

 

Honestly i take a 3/8 ratchet and with my hand a little less than half way up give it a good turn to tighten it up. changed my oil plenty of times and never damaged the threads in the pan and never drip any oil out the plug.

 

oil pan gasket, not the drain nut.

 

8.7lb/ft // 12N-m

5 1 3
6 2 4

Don't forget to apply liquid gasket to the edges of the "humps" on each end of the gasket.

PS: 1 is right next to the drain plug.

Doesn't really matter worth of crap what you torque the drain plug at as long as it's about 2/5 a turn past "finger tight."

 

sounds good now i gotta find someone with a torque wrench thanx dudes

**** i just tightend mine till i couldnt turn it no more.. i think it was like 210ft/lbs
